Sansepolcro is set to become the beating heart of pasta with “I Primi dei Primi”, a festival dedicated to the stars of Italian cuisine: first courses. Three days celebrating flavour, creativity and tradition, during which the town honours its deep connection with pasta, a symbol of its manufacturing and cultural heritage. An event designed for enthusiasts, families, industry professionals and anyone with an interest, featuring a packed programme of events for everyone
 
Pasta, culture and local heritage: Sansepolcro boasts a long tradition in the art of pasta-making. Through this festival, the town showcases its heritage via traditional recipes, new gourmet interpretations and encounters with those who work every day to bring quality and innovation to the kitchen
 

  • Gala Dinners > An exclusive dinner with Michelin-starred chefs, featuring a menu that celebrates pasta in a gourmet style, blending creativity and tradition
  • Street Chefs > Chefs take centre stage on the streets, cooking first courses in full view for guests to enjoy whilst strolling through Piazza Torre di Berta, transformed into a wheat field
  • Sunday Lunch > Sansepolcro, where cuisine is tailor-made. Dishes made with love, created by top chefs, right in the heart of the historic centre
  • Masterclasses > Educational masterclasses with chefs, pasta makers and producers to learn the secrets of pasta, including techniques, stories and guided tastings
  • The Shops > Experiences, exhibitions and themed displays will bring the shop windows of the historic centre to life, transforming Sansepolcro into a living museum dedicated to pasta
  • The Guests > The event will host leading figures from the Italian food and wine scene, ready to share experiences, flavours and stories

Friday 1st May

  • Council Chamber of the Town Hall, 5.00 pm – Conference (free admission)
  • Palazzo Alberti, 6.30 pm – Opening of the Buitoni Exhibition | Opening of the exhibition of Buitoni memorabilia, curated by Cral Buitoni (free admission)
  • Piazza Torre di Berta, 7.00 pm – Opening reception with a pasta-based aperitif and a performance by the flag-waving group (free admission)
  • Cloister of San Francesco, 8.00 pm – Primi dei Primi Gala Dinner | In the timeless heart of the Cloister of San Francesco, an exclusive evening dedicated to the excellence of Italian cuisine comes to life. A unique gastronomic journey with Michelin-starred chefs, the stars of a refined experience where the first course becomes art, emotion and creativity. Amidst history, elegance and signature flavours, let yourself be captivated by a once-in-a-lifetime event in the splendid setting of Sansepolcro (admission fee: €120.00 – children under 12 €30.00 – booking required)
 

Saturday 2nd May

  • Historic centre, 11.00 am – Pasta in the Window | The whole village is decked out in pasta! The shops and businesses in the village will pay tribute to pasta with unique and original themed displays that will accompany you through the streets of the historic centre
  • Palazzo Alberti, 11.00 am - Buitoni Exhibition | Exhibition of Buitoni memorabilia, curated by Cral Buitoni (free entry)
  • Historic centre, 11.00 am - The ‘Primi dei Primi’ Shops | Exhibition and sale, in the vacant shops of the historic centre, of pasta from local pasta makers and typical products of the Valtiberina
  • Piazza Torre di Berta, 11.30 am - Street Chef | Freshly prepared first courses, from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm and from 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm. Admission €30 including 5 servings of first courses and drinks (tickets available on-site and online)
  • Historic centre, 2.00 pm - The Cooking School with Filip Matjaz | Demonstration lesson by Michelin-starred chef Filip Matjaz* from the Slovenian restaurant COB, on a sensory journey where you not only learn but also taste. Direct interaction with the chef will transform a simple cooking demonstration into an engaging interactive experience (included with admission tickets, max. 40 places, booking required)
  • Historic Centre, 4.00 pm – The Cooking School with Fabio Groppi | A demonstration class led by chef Fabio Groppi, taking you on a sensory journey where you not only learn but also taste… Direct interaction with the chef will transform a simple cooking demonstration into an engaging, interactive experience (included with admission tickets; max. 40 places; booking essential)
  • Piazza Torre di Berta, 7.30 pm – Pasta Party! | You’ll explore a world of flavours by savouring local specialities cooked in front of you by the Borgo’s chefs and guest chefs. Signature cocktails and live music, along with aromas, colours and a warm atmosphere, will delight you throughout the evening. Admission €30 including 5 servings of first courses and drinks (tickets available on-site and online)
  • Piazza Torre di Berta, 11.59 pm – Midnight Spaghetti Feast | Celebrate around a generous plate of spaghetti with garlic, oil and chilli, a dish and a ritual that speaks of friendship
 

Sunday 3rd May

  • Palazzo delle Laudi, 1.00 pm – Sunday Lunch | A large table beneath the loggia of Palazzo delle Laudi, featuring iconic dishes of Italian haute cuisine with a touch from master chefs to make them unforgettable (fee: €80.00 – children under 12 €30.00 – limited places, booking recommended)
  • Historic centre, 2.00 pm – The Gluten-Free Cooking School with Rosannina del Santo | Demonstration lesson by chef Rosannina del Santo, a training chef specialising in dietary requirements, who has been part of the Italian Chefs’ Federation’s Advanced Training team for many years (included with admission tickets, max. 40 places, booking essential)
  • Historic centre, 4.00 pm – The Cooking School with Davide Canella | A demonstration class led by Michelin-starred chef Davide Canella, Executive Chef at the 5-star Castel Monastero resort in Castelnuovo Berardenga, offering a sensory journey where you not only learn but also taste (included in the admission ticket; max. 40 places; booking essential)
  • Historic centre, 6.00 pm – The Cooking School | Demonstration lesson by Michelin-starred chefs and masters of Italian haute cuisine, on a sensory journey where you not only learn but also taste. Direct interaction with the chef will transform a simple cooking demonstration into an engaging interactive experience (included with admission tickets, max. 40 places, booking required)
  • Piazza Torre di Berta, 7.30 pm – Presentation of the “Primi dei Primi – Pasta in Vetrina” Award – Award for the most original and representative window display in the “Prima tra i Primi” category
