Lo Spino

 
Lo Spino takes place along the SP08 della Verna, which links Pieve Santo Stefano to Il Passo dello Spino; the event has been held since 1965, but today it is effectively a non-competitive parade of cars along a mountain road that serves as a veritable natural racetrack.
 
Iconic figures from Italian motorsport will be in Pieve Santo Stefano for the third edition of “Lo Spino – Leggende in Salita”, a revival event scheduled for Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July in Pieve Santo Stefano and along the SP208.
 
This edition is particularly “nostalgic”, as it marks 61 years since the first competition, which took place on 5 September 1965 on a route that was 12 kilometres and 700 metres long at the time, before being shortened to 12 kilometres and 500 metres.
 
The Pro Spino Team, which organises the event together with the “Il Saracino” club and with the invaluable contribution of Casentino collector Attilio Fantini, has therefore decided to mark this anniversary by inviting a former Formula One driver and three other figures who have made their mark on the Spino’s roll of honour.
