Walking along the roads that cross the territory of Sestino, or walking along the numerous paths, it is natural to come across the giant specimens of Chianina. This cattle breed has been known for more than 2000 years. Mentioned by Pliny the Elder and other Latin authors as "Bos magnus et albus" and used as a working animal by Romans and Etruscans, for years it has been successfully bred in the green pastures of the central Apennines for its lean and tasty meat. In Sestino every year in June there is a “Chianina Steak Festival”.
