The museum was born with a great goal: to allow everyone to know and understand the historical, artistic and religious identity of the territory, concentrating in one place all the stone finds and historical documentation of the community of Badia Tedalda.

It consists of two main nuclei: the first is naturalistic and didactic, dedicated to illustrating the various naturalistic habitats in the Alpe della Luna, flora, fauna and traditional human activities. The second part is dedicated to the mineralistic, fossil and archaeological finds of the area, as well as a lapidary of materials coming mostly from the ancient church of San Michele Arcangelo, including a festoon arch perhaps from the fifteenth century, which adorned the ancient portal, fragments of capitals and architectural decorations from the eleventh to the sixteenth century and a singular monolithic lunette with a bust of the Madonna, of archaic taste, called "Lombard".
