The museum collects artifacts of the social activity carried out by the Confraternity of Misericordia during  its centuries-old presence in the territory of Anghiari, thanks to the initiative of some members of the Confraternity and in particular of the local historian L. Babbini.

The museum is divided into the monumental hall and the two adjoining rooms, the showcase room and the archives room.
