Liberation Day | 81st Anniversary
Saturday 25 April, from 10.30 am – Sansepolcro
The Municipality of Sansepolcro is celebrating the 81st Anniversary of Liberation with a series of events dedicated to remembrance, reflection and the sharing of the Republic’s founding values.
25 April is one of the most significant dates in Italian history: the day on which the country regained its freedom after the years of Nazi-Fascism, laying the foundations for the birth of democracy and the Constitution. A moment that continues to resonate today, calling on everyone to respect rights, exercise civic responsibility and defend the values of peace and freedom
The celebrations will begin at 10.30 am with the gathering of the parade in Via Matteotti, followed at 11.00 am by the ceremony at the Monument in the Park in Via XXV Aprile, where a laurel wreath will be laid. During the morning, the ANPI of Sansepolcro will present an award to partisans and former combatants, accompanied by a musical performance by the Filarmonica dei Perseveranti
The events will conclude at 12 noon in the district of Santa Fiora, with the laying of a laurel wreath at the War Memorial
A solemn and well-attended occasion, intended not only as a commemoration but also as an opportunity to raise awareness, particularly among the younger generations, who are called upon to uphold and renew the values of freedom and democracy
The local council invites the public and all veterans’ and military associations to attend
