“Francis. The Legacy of Light 1226/2026” stems from a desire to restore to the community the spiritual, cultural and symbolic power of the Franciscan sites in the Valtiberina, transforming the 800th anniversary of St Francis’s death into an experience that goes beyond mere commemoration, inviting people to experience light as a living legacy
This first event marks the start of the journey leading up to the project’s central moment: ‘Luce sospesa’, which will be presented on 25 September at 5.00 pm beneath the Logge del Grano. Faust Cardinali’s work brings to the square a figure carved from stalagmite, suspended between matter and breath. It is a Christ who does not dominate the space, but holds it; a presence that does not descend, but waits. His light is not a glare, but a call: an invitation to pause, to look, to recognise that which illuminates without a sound
