Chestnut Festival | And the Caprese DOP Marrone
Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October (first weekend) – Caprese Michelangelo
Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October (second weekend) – Caprese Michelangelo
The 56th Chestnut and Caprese Michelangelo PDO Marrone Festival is back! Four days of tradition, culture, flavour and fun to celebrate our PDO Marrone and the beauty of the local area! An event that brings together authentic flavours, history, art and conviviality, celebrating our roots and the dedication of those who keep the traditions of Caprese Michelangelo alive
With the arrival of autumn, the ancient village of Caprese Michelangelo is once again preparing to celebrate this most enchanting season with its most characteristic and distinctive product, the local ‘Marrone DOP’. On this occasion, the medieval streets of the town centre come alive with stalls and market stands where visitors can sample not only the typical local chestnuts but also a variety of traditional local specialities, such as delicious first courses – including sweet chestnut polenta or the famous minced beef or wild boar dishes – and authentic traditional desserts such as castagnaccio, accompanied by local wines and beers. Also on offer are forest specialities – truffles and porcini mushrooms – which have made the village famous. All this is accompanied by various cultural initiatives such as markets, performances, photographic exhibitions and the opportunity to take guided tours of the Michelangelo Museum. This event is an unmissable occasion for anyone wishing to experience authentic rural Tuscan tradition in an atmosphere blending flavour, art and nature
The event celebrates the renowned Marrone di Caprese Michelangelo, a PDO product, with food stalls, stalls selling local specialities and other cultural activities
