Blu Vegetale on Alpe della LunaA day spent discovering wild plants for an art workshop on the ancient technique of cyanotype

Saturday 13 June and Sunday 14 June, from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm - District Montelabreve, 5 Badia Tedalda

Cyanotype is a manual contact printing technique that originated in the 19th century and uses sunlight to create prints: it produces a final image of the subject, rendered in shades of blue of varying intensity, which is undeniably beautiful and captivating

THE PROGRAMME:

  • Saturday 13 June, morning > we will walk through the woods, observing the vegetation and gathering materials for printing; we will introduce the concept of contact printing and proceed with preparing the photosensitive solution and treating the paper. Whilst the sheets are drying, we can enjoy a get-together to sample local specialities from local businesses

  • Saturday 13 June, afternoon > we will prepare the collected materials and the items to be displayed, printed and developed in sunlight; we will carry out some toning tests on the prints obtained. Full instructions will be provided so you can practise independently. The prints produced will remain with each participant
